God has a plan for the ages and for this eon, this plan was established and settled "before the foundation of the world" (1:4), centered in Jesus Christ, but broken down into dispensations and is now approaching its completion or fulfillment. The word translated "dispensation," oikonomia, speaks about stewardship, a house order, an economy. In simple terms, it is a plan and the execution of that plan. - Audio Sermon from The Waters of Marah by; Ap. Jonathan Male
In our pursuit to make the church relevant today, we’ve become so focused on the heavenly that we’ve lost touch with our earthly purpose. Yet, God’s will is to be fulfilled here on earth. Ephesians 1:9-10 (KJV) reminds us of our redemption through Christ’s blood and the wisdom and prudence God has shown in revealing His divine plan to us.
Paul emphasizes that:
- God’s Eternal Plan: This plan, established before the foundation of the world, is centered in Jesus Christ and is unfolding through various dispensations, now approaching its fulfillment.
- Stewardship and Responsibility: The term "dispensation" (oikonomia) refers to God's stewardship or economy. God, as the ultimate authority, has a detailed plan, and we are entrusted with the responsibility to execute parts of this plan.
- Unity in Christ:The goal of this eternal plan is to bring all things together under Christ's authority.
